About
Betty Gannon lives and works in Co Mayo, Ireland, mainly working in drawing, painting, mixed media and 3d objects. She was selected for many solo exhibitions throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland and also selected for numerous group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
Her work is informed by the built and natural environment and is interested in the dynamics that exists between chaos and order in these environments, and the energies of transformation implicit in these processes of change whether human or naturally made. My work explores themes of stability, shelter, transience and regeneration in an ever evolving world.
In recent work, through drawing and painting, I have been exploring local natural habitats. I am interested in the wildness of these places when left for a while without human intervention.
This body of work is an ongoing project.
