About

Betty Gannon lives and works in Co Mayo, Ireland, mainly working in drawing, painting, mixed media and 3d objects. Her work is informed by the built and natural environment. She is interested in the dynamics that exist between order and disorder in these places, and the energies of transformation implicit in these processes of change whether human or naturally made. Her work also explores themes of stability, shelter, transience and regeneration in an ever evolving world.
In recent work, through drawing and painting, she has been exploring local, natural habitats, and is interested in the wildness of these places when left for a while without human intervention.
Her work has been selected for many solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
